attend your hearing

Follow the steps below and then click Continue at the bottom of the page
Remember to wear nice clothes and arrive at least 15 minutes before your hearing.  Bring the copies of your paperwork that you filed in case they are needed.

If the judge grants your petition, he or she will sign the order.  The judge will tell you when the order will be ready.

The Clerk can usually make a certified copy of the signed order for a small fee.  It is recommended to get at least 5 certified copies of the order, as you will need them when updating other identification documents.  If you need more certified copies at a later time, you can go to the courthouse to get additional copies.

Make sure to keep the signed order in a safe place, you will need it in the next steps to change your name on your official government identification.
