The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office provides fingerprinting services for name change applicants. Fingerprinting services are offered at two locations. Please call the Forensics unit's number below for additional information.

- North County Jail - (941) 861-4728
- Offered Monday through Friday from 8 am to 12 pm
- South County Office - (941) 861-4728
- Offered Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm
A few tips for the fingerprinting process:
- You must bring a picture ID - a Florida Driver's License is preferred.
- Very important - Provide the Originating Agency Identification (ORI) Number - FL924070Z (the "0" before the "Z" is a zero) to the Sheriff's Office. This will insure that the FDLE returns the report to the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller (Clerk) for use in your name change case.
- Be prepared to pay fees:
- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office charges $15.00 for fingerprinting. Payment must be made in cash only at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
- A Transaction Control Number (TCN) will be issued upon getting your fingerprints done. KEEP this number for your records; it will likely be needed to make an online payment for the background check.
- The results of the background check will be sent directly to the Sarasota County Clerk of Court.
