To file your petition online, go to the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal to file your petition. If you don't have an account already, you will need to sign up for an account. The E-Filing Portal has some questions that can be confusing. Your county clerk's office can answer procedural questions, go to County Resources to see your county clerk's contact information.

A few tips on filling out the Case Information on the E-Filing Portal:
- For "Division" choose "Domestic Relations/Family" from the dropdown menu.
- For "Case Type" choose "Name Change" from the dropdown menu.
- For "Sub Type" choose "Name Change Adult, Minor and Family" from the dropdown menu.
- For "Proceeding Type" choose "Initial Action/Petition" from the dropdown menu.
- For "Proceeding Type of Case" choose "Name Change" from the dropdown menu.
